Rapid Intervention Team The Maynard Fire Department Rapid Intervention Team is an elite group of firefighters handpicked and specially trained in rescuing a firefighter trapped or disoriented in a hazardous environment. The Maynard R.I.T. has joined forces with Stittville and Floyd Fire Departments to become the largest (over 20 certified members) and most active volunteer R.I.T. in Oneida County. The joining of our teams provides more resources and specialized equipment which makes us better equipped to handle a large situation. Our training is held monthly at various locations in our Zone 3 coverage area allowing us to pre-plan locations and become familiar with buildings outside our Fire Districts. We hope the call never comes to rescue a firefighter down but if it does, you can be assured that our combined R.I.T. is highly trained and capable of handling the situation at hand.
