Squad 6 - 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD (Home - Station 1)

Squad 6 is a multi purpose vehicle with many duties.  The two primary roles of Squad 6 are to transport manpower to emergency scenes and to control traffic on busy roads and highways.  In the brush fire season, Squad 6 is equipped with a 150 gallon water tank and pumping unit to quickly extinguish the fire and with it's 4 wheel drive capabilities, Squad 6 can get into many places a fire engine cannot.  The brush unit is easily removed when not needed.

On a daily basis, Squad 6 is used to run Fire Department errands, transport equipment from Station 1 to Station 2, and used by firefighters for training and classes.  When a motor vehicle accident happens, Squad 6 quickly transforms into a traffic control vehicle equipped with an L.E.D. traffic control light that advises drivers which direction to go when passing a scene.  Squad 6 is supplied with flares, reflective Fire Police vests, and reflective signs that warn drivers of upcoming hazards.

Squad 6 is the "work horse" of the department and serves as a useful resource for a variety of emergencies.  You will often see Squad 6 respond to cellar pump details and wires down calls when a Fire Engine is not needed.  Squad 6 is equipped with B.L.S. (Basic Life Support) medical equipment and will occasionally respond to a medical call prior to the Rescue when the Squad is mobile and close to the scene.

When a patient needs an advanced level of care, Rescue 2 is there with a host of specialized equipment to be used by our advanced level providers.  Some of the advanced procedures include intravenous access, needle chest decompression, advanced airways including endotracheal intubation and needle cricothyrotomy, and multiple respiratory medications that can be administered through an IV line or special mouth and face pieces that help treat Anaphylaxis, Asthma, COPD, and Pulmonary Edema.

When it comes to cardiac emergencies, Time gone by Is Heart Muscle destroyed.  Rescue 2 is there with a host of cardiac medications to help ease stress on the heart.  Rescue 2 is also equipped with a Zoll E Series cardiac monitor capable of 12-lead cardiac monitoring which monitors a larger portion of the heart as opposed to 3 lead monitors of the past which helps detect if a patient is having a heart attack and if they are, what kind.  The Zoll E Series assists in a cardiac arrest with it's advanced defibrillation procedures, heart pacing and patient status monitoring.

These are just a few of the advanced medical capabilities that lie behind the doors of Rescue 2.  When Rescue 2 is not on medical calls, it can perform many other jobs like assisting in Firefighter Rehab on fire scenes.

Rescue 2 is equipped with a Night Scan roof mounted light that extends and retracts.  This powerful spot light is very useful in lighting emergency scenes at night.
