MAYNARD DRIVE
FACILITIES EXPASION PROJECT
Our
Maynard Fire Station was erected in
1953. In the late 1960s, there was
a need to construct an addition to
our facilities due to steady
residential and commercial
development. Currently, our
community continues to grow, coupled
with the changes in the overall
dynamics of the fire service and an
aging structure; the time for
expansion is now.
ADVANTAGES OF AN ADDITION/REMODEL
PLAN
Ø
COST: Preliminary
estimates for a new building would
far exceed the costs for expansion.
In addition, expansion would
preserve our history while meeting
all our needs for generations to
come. Your fund drive donations
will be invested wisely toward some
of the interior upgrades that are
needed.
Ø
NEW ROOF: We have had
chronic problems with our roof for
many years. These issues have
caused some damage to the interior
of our building. Replacement of the
existing roof would be very costly.
However, with our pitched roof
design included in the expansion, it
will solve our chronic roofing
issues.
Ø
APPARATUS BAYS:
Modern fire apparatus are built
larger and taller. Currently our
trucks barely squeeze into our
station with only inches to spare.
Our new addition would provide
sufficient room for both present and
future apparatus.
Ø
BUILDING SAFETY UPDATES:
Will bring our building up to
current safety codes. It will also
increase handicap accessibility for
public functions.
Ø
OFFICE AND STORAGE SPACE:
Currently, we have exhausted all
available space for storage of fire
equipment, EMS
supplies, and required
recordkeeping. All our leaders
within the department share one
office which makes it difficult to
operate efficiently. We will have
ample room for all our needs for
years to come.
Ø
FITNESS ROOM: The
demand for our firefighters to be
physically fit continues to
increase. Every member must pass a
mandated physical exam annually to
remain active with our department.
It is only prudent that we provide
the necessary equipment to provide
incentive to remain physically
agile. This will subsequently
reduce fire ground injuries, improve
cardiovascular fitness (which is the
number one cause of in the line of
duty deaths nationwide), and provide
firefighters at the station whom
will respond to alarms rather than
buying gym memberships that send our
members outside our district.
